Sophera Sphere 2.1

The Sphere 2.1 extends the frequency response of Sphere 2 Mk II out to 40 kHz, using a carefully chosen high frequency driver (or tweeter) and a minimal crossover. Sphere 2 Mk II supplements the 5” driver with a Fountek ribbon tweeter, using high performance Neodymium magnets. The two drivers have a similar ‘voice’ and complementary frequency response curves, so that the 5“ driver smoothly, hands the signal to the Fountek ribbon at the highest frequencies. As an added benefit, listeners report that transients and higher harmonics are improved in a way that adds perspective and depth to the already lovely midrange: the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. This is a highly critical 4 Ohm loudspeaker that we prefer to install as a complete system. It demands an excellent source and prefers a Class A amplifier.
